Crowding of the Teeth

Overcrowding of the teeth, often referred to as malocclusion, is one of the first steps that our team works towards for to help our patients receive a straighter smile. The above patient started treatment at age 11 and wore braces for 18 months. His transformation is priceless, and he loves his new smile!

Open Bite – Front Teeth Don’t Touch

An open bite occurs when there is no vertical overlap or contact between the anterior incisors, such as in the patient above. With diligent use of elastics, this can be corrected.

Missing Lateral Incisors

The above patient’s lateral incisors were congenitally missing. Our orthodontist works closely with the patient’s dentist to decide on the best course of treatment including planning for implants at a later date or closing spaces.

Spacing of the Teeth

This patient was bothered by the spaces between his teeth. Braces closed the spaces and gave him an ideal bite in 18 months. Consistent nightly retainer wear helps keep the spaces closed.

Overjet – Protruding Front Teeth

At age 10, this patient had an overjet with the top teeth protruding beyond the bottom. She had two phases of treatment. The first helped her jaws to grow more harmoniously and the second aligned her teeth and bite. At age 13, she was proudly displaying her new smile!

Non-Braces Treatment

Sometimes braces are not needed to get noticeable improvements in tooth alignment. This patient was first seen at age seven for crowding of the lower permanent teeth. A procedure was performed to reduce the width of the adjacent baby teeth and the permanent incisors aligned on their own in nine months.

Phase-One

This patient’s parents were concerned with both the aesthetics and the health of the erupting permanent teeth in their 8-year-old child. The lower front teeth were crowded and touching the palate, while the upper front teeth were extremely displaced from their normal positions. Some younger patients benefit from an expander which is a skeletal movement that permanently expands the upper palate to allow permanent teeth to erupt in their best position.
